Utility apps help you do things. The App Store has a wide range of utility apps, including guitar tuners, handyman levels, and remote controls. No matter what you're looking for, there's a utility app for that!

Some apps fit into several categories. A cool iapp is Remote, which is a remote control for playing songs on iTunes. It is a utility but it's categorized as an entertainment app.

 

iHandy Level by iHandySoft

This now famous, free iHandy Level utility app uses the accelerometer in the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to sense the orientation of the device. The tilt is displayed in a picture of a handyman's level.

It automatically adjusts to any orientation. Rotate the device a bit and the bubble moves. Rotate it more than 90 degrees and the app rotates and considers the new lowest edge or surface to be the bottom. That is, the bottom for the app can be the bottom, left, top, or right edge. Lay it down flat and the back surface becomes the bottom.

iHandy Level is well done, adjusting to every situation, which makes it a cool utility app!
