The best navigation app we've seen is the free Maps app that comes with the iPhone. It's a team effort between two of the top companies in the world, Apple and Google.

 

Apple Maps app uses Google Maps

You can use the Maps app just like Google Maps to find places. But where this navigation app really shines is when you use the iPhone's location services.

To get directions, you usually have to give a starting point and ending point. But with the Maps app you can say, "start here, right here!" It will use your current location, which is determined with the built-in GPS system, usually referred to as the location services.

The picture shows a screen shot from our visit to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We asked for directions from Spadina & Bloor to Yonge & Dundas, and voila!
